The reports aren't entirely clear on what exactly happened here. A tire failure usually refers to a blow out, but not always. Axles can break, bolts can come loose, etc. Even if it was a blowout, that's not always as unavoidable as it may seem. Are authorities here equipped to look into the possible complex factors surrounding this incident?

For example, some trucking companies will neglect necessary repairs, putting the public and even their own drivers in serious danger. A tire needing to be replaced can lead to a catastrophic failure, then leading to more serious consequences. A company neglecting its responsibilities and getting people hurt is something they can be accountable for.

While a lot less likely, another possibility is there was a defect. If the truck driver had every reason to believe that the tire or wheel was in good condition, yet it still failed, that can be a sign of poor construction. Not only would that warrant confronting the manufacturer for the damages they caused, but it would also be crucial to get the affected product off the streets before more people got hurt.

At the end of the day, hit sort of crash is rarely simple even when the cause of the crash is something straight-forward. That's because it takes thorough investigations to ensure nothing unusual slips through the cracks. Getting folks the help they deserve may require more thorough independent investigations than what the authorities can offer.
