Commentary on Demarie Jermonte Oakley Truck Accident in Dallas

Folks tend to assume a driver can't be at fault if they're simply stationary and someone runs into them. The law can be more nuanced than that, especially with commercial vehicles. Despite how some less scrupulous truckers behave, there are rules for stopping in the roadway. Since failing to follow those rules can get people hurt, there are potential consequences to face.

Is that something that applies here? I certainly have no specific reason to say so, and reports even suggest the truck had its hazards on. If it was stopped for legitimate reasons and did everything to make the truck visible, then it would be silly to blame the truck. Still, it's important folks know they're getting the whole story before jumping to conclusions.
