Commentary on Latiana Sheree Washington Car Accident in Waskom

When people read about crashes like this, their instinct is to simply blame the driver. Are things like speeding, texting, and drunk driving common? Of course, and they're important to investigate. But if authorities simply ignore other possibilities, something important may slip through the cracks.

All kinds of things can cause a single-vehicle accident, and it's important to understand these possibilities and how to look for them. It's one of the reasons I tend to rely on independent investigations rather than police reports. The same could prove necessary here if people are going to get the answers they deserve.
