Commentary on Tarrerae Grubb, Karen Hitt Injured in Truck Accident in Emporia

Considering reports say the victims here were "rushed" from the scene, I can't help wondering if their injuries were truly minor. I'm always skeptical of such reports simply because I've seen reportedly minor injuries turn out to be far worse upon further inspection.

Not long ago, for example, a man came to us after being involved in a commercial vehicle wreck. He initially just had a sore back, and doctors sent him home with little more than a prescription for ibuprofen and a heating pad. Days later, though, he could barely move due to the excruciating pain.

Further tests showed the collision ruptured a disk in his spine, and he needed surgery. On top of that, he had to deal with arduous task of getting the insurance company to take responsibility. We ultimately got him the help he needed, but it was a far cry from "minor."

I sincerely hope nothing like that happens here, but it's why I'm always so adamant that folks take steps to prepare themselves. Anticipating these challenges can make a world of difference in overcoming them.
