Commentary on Fatal Tractor-Trailer Accident on I-80 in Morris

When people see a driver rear-end an 18-wheeler, they tend to think that automatically puts that driver at fault. While that is often the case, it's important folks avoid jumping to conclusions. There are obviously situations where someone rear-ends another vehicle where it would be ridiculous to blame them.

What if the 18-wheeler cut them off? What if they were forced over by another reckless driver? What if they suffered a medical emergency? What if their vehicle experienced some kind of mechanical issue? Likely or not, two people lost their lives here. That alone should warrant some prudence until there can be more thorough independent investigations into what happened here.
