When folks read about a motorcyclist crashing into the back of a truck, they're likely to assume the motorcyclist was somehow being reckless. Maybe that's true, but it depends on why this truck was stopped in the roadway and whether or not it was reasonably avoidable.

There's quite a big difference between a truck stopped with their blinker on waiting to make a turn and a truck stopped illegally to make a delivery. These reports don't say why this particular truck was stopped in the roadway, but it's obviously important steps are taken to pin down those details. As I said, folks are quick to blame motorcyclists, so having as much evidence telling their side of the story as possible is crucial. In my experience, it takes a lot more than a simple police report to bring that kind of evidence to light.
