Antonio William Vega Killed in Truck Accident in Jeff Davis Parish, LA

Jeff Davis Parish, LA -- August 13, 2022, Antonio William Vega was killed due to an accident where his truck crashed off the interstate.

Investigators reported that the accident happened at around 10:30 a.m. along I-10 at the Highway 165 exit ramp.

According to officials, 71-year-old Antonio William Vega was in a Peterbilt traveling eastbound on the interstate. Going toward the Highway 165 ramp, the truck somehow went off-road, causing the truck to overturn repeatedly.

Due to the crash, Vega sustained fatal injuries. No one else appeared to have been involved. Investigations are ongoing.

Police mentioned looking into speeding as a possible factor here, and that's not all that unusual. But it's important they consider other possibilities, as well--even unlikely ones. Something I come across all the time is police completely overlook things like mechanical defects. Trucks are incredibly complex, and a lot of things can go wrong.
