Oscar Alba Killed in Motorcycle Accident on 10th Street in McAllen, TX

UPDATE (August 18, 2022): The fatally-injured motorcyclist was later identified as 28-year-old Oscar Fernando Hernandez Alba. The driver who struck him, 28-year-old Joel Bello Galindo, was reportedly charged with criminal negligent homicide. 

McAllen, TX — August 9, 2022, a motorcyclist died in a collision with an SUV on 10th Street in McAllen.

According to reports the incident happened shortly before 7:00 p.m., when officers were dispatched to the 1500 block of South 10th Street at Frontage Road. The cause and circumstances of the crash aren't clear, but reports say a southbound Yamaha motorcycle and an eastbound Ford Explorer SUV collided in the intersection when the SUV driver ran a red light.

The motorcyclist was ejected in the crash and suffered critical injuries. He was taken to an area hospital where he was pronounced dead a short time later. The SUV driver remained at the scene and cooperated with investigators.
