Commentary on Thomas Conrad Vasquez Truck Accident in Bastrop County

It's not for me to sit around speculating about who's to blame here, regardless of what the most likely explanation may be. Besides, something else sticks out to me folks may have overlooked. It's not often a commercial truck t-bones a vehicle at a stop sign, and the person on the opposite side of the impact is the one more seriously hurt. So what exactly happened here?

The reason this concerns me is because that can sometimes be a sign of a defective product. The side opposite the impact should be the safest, relatively speaking, so a crash like this can involve faulty seatbelts, malfunctioning airbags, seat assemblies falling apart, etc. This isn't the sort of thing authorities tend to look into on their own, which is why I try to remind people there can be complex issues that require more thorough investigations if folks are going to get the help they deserve.
