Commentary on Jesse Vasquez Car Accident in Odessa

Folks tend to jump to conclusions with single vehicle wrecks like this. Were they speeding? On their phone? Drunk? These are common factors worth considering. That's especially true with something like alcohol, given both dram shop law allowing victims to hold bars accountable for over-serving the victim and for the possibility of a business serving a 19-year-old.

That said, if authorities aren't also considering things like mechanical issues, road hazards, tire defects, and other less likely possibilities, I'm concerned they aren't actually getting the full story. Are steps being taken here to ensure all the facts are being considered so the victim and families involved can get the help they deserve.
