With crashes like this, quite frankly, they are almost always avoidable. Is it possible that the bridge wasn't properly marked for its height or that some highly unusual circumstances led to the tractor being too high? Sure, just like it's possible to win the lottery. But the most likely explanation is simply that someone screwed up.

Whether that was a reckless truck driver or their employer failing to do proper training, hiring reckless drivers, providing improper equipment, etc., it's crucial there are thorough investigations to ensure the victim's loved ones have all the facts they can get. As straight-forward as this sort of thing may seem, there are inherent hurdles when it comes to commercial truck wrecks. Put simply, trucking companies go to great lengths to avoid responsibility, and folks need to understand these potential barriers so they know what steps to take to anticipate and overcome them. Are those steps being taken here?

The article below sheds light on some of the things I've seen trucking companies do throughout my career. Learning these things can be a huge help to those that tragically find themselves in these kinds of situations.
