Man in Wheelchair Injured by SUV on Buena Vista St in San Antonio, TX
San Antonio, TX — August 8, 2022, a man in a wheelchair was struck and injured by an SUV on Buena Vista Street in west San Antonio.
According to reports the incident happened just before 3:00 a.m. near Buena Vista and South Navidad Street. Preliminary investigation suggests the victim was in a wheelchair in the middle of the roadway for unknown reasons when an SUV approached and hit him. The impact threw the victim from his chair onto the hood of the SUV; he then rolled off it onto the ground. The driver stopped immediately to render aid.

Commentary on San Antonio Pedestrian Accident on Buena Vista
Some may decide out of hand that this crash, while unfortunate, may be the victim's fault for being in the road when traffic approached. However, things may not be as cut-and-dried as news reports make them seem. It's important after just about every accident to look at all its possible variables, even less-likely factors, to be sure the whole story is learned and there's no confusion.
To do that it would be best to answer quite a few lingering questions: Why was the victim in the roadway? Where did he come from and where was he headed? What's lighting like in that area? Was the driver that hit the pedestrian awake, alert, and paying attention to the road? Is that area unreasonably dangerous for pedestrians? Could the victim have been disoriented or impaired in some manner?
Whether investigations reveal crucial details or simply confirm that nothing out of the ordinary happened, getting more answers should be a priority going forward. My concern is whether the authorities will take the incident seriously enough to ensure those answers come to light.
