Commentary on 18-wheeler Accident on I-45 in Palmer

With a crash like this, folks are quick to assume the driver must have done something wrong. That's certainly the most likely explanation, but there can be extenuating factors to consider that I rarely see authorities look into.

Was the driver trained properly? Were they coerced into working long hours? Does their employer have them being reckless or operating shoddy equipment? Was there some kind of defect? Did the driver's safety features function as intended? Was there another vehicle involved that left the scene?

Authorities aren't always as thorough as people may assume, which is why these kinds of things often slip through the cracks. Making sure they get attention can help to ensure someone gets the help they need. I see no particular reason to consider this crash an exception.
