Commentary on Tanker Truck Accident on OK-11 in Tulsa
After a crash like this I'm often concerned that authorities will be less than thorough as they investigate it. The assumption is often that a driver only flips their vehicle if they were somehow careless behind the the wheel. Common as that may be, it's still can't be taken for granted. There could be extenuating circumstances to the wreck that would change how it's understood, as well as who should be considered at fault.
For instance, an unfortunate problem in the commercial vehicle industry is manufacturers failing to build vehicles that truly keep their drivers as safe as reasonably possible. Corners get cut and designs never change even if reasonable safety improvements could be made to a fleet. When that happens, a crash ends up worse than it needs to be. Could something along those lines have happened here?
