Ronald Dunn Injured in Truck Accident in Greenfield, MA

Greenfield, MA -- August 3, 2022, Ronald Dunn was injured due to an accident where a dump truck crashed possibly after brake failure.

Authorities say the crash took place at around 8:46 a.m. in the area of Route 2 near Colrain Road.

It appears that Ronald Dunn was in a vehicle traveling along Route 2 in a dump truck approaching traffic. Dunn told authorities that the brakes failed somehow, causing him to swerve to avoid hitting traffic. The truck hit two vehicles and overturned.

EMS flew Dunn to a hospital for injuries described as serious but non-life-threatening.

When folks read about a crash supposedly involving brake failure, the instinct is usually to doubt that. Quite frankly, it's not a bad instinct. That sort of claim is usually an excuse to hide a mistake, or at the very least it's the result of a driver or their employer failing to maintain a vehicle. But does that mean we can just ignore that possibility? Of course not.

Sudden brake failure is unlikely, but it's not unheard of. The fact a man was seriously hurt here is reason enough for investigators to take him seriously. That means ensuring the right people with the right equipment look at the truck and find out what exactly went wrong. If there is some sort of defect involved here, other truckers could be in danger if the issue isn't addressed as soon as possible.
