Commentary on Jennifer Beckham Accident in Bandera County
If clear evidence confirms that the driver was impaired (as her alleged confession and the breathalyzer test strongly suggest), that may mean she'll face some legal consequences for her choices that night. However, before anyone decides that's the end of the matter there may be other considerations.
For instance, a local bar or other alcohol vendor might have illegally over-served the victim before her crash. If so, that business might be liable for her injuries under dram shop law and would then have a duty to help her get back on her feet.

The possibility of a dram shop violation is just one reason of many why full investigations are so important. Getting people the help they need and deserve is one of the most critical aspects of the law, which understands that someone can make a mistake and still consider whether anyone else was also responsible for the damage done.
I can't say whether a local business had a hand in this wreck, but since the driver reportedly admitted to drinking it seems like a good idea to find out where and how much. Unfortunately, police rarely look into those important details. If independent investigators don't follow up, there's no telling if the whole truth will be uncovered or if the victim will get the help she deserves.
