Conroe, TX -- July 3, 2022, Bezael Guazazon Gomez and a Willis Man were injured in a car accident which may have involved alcohol.

Authorities reported that the crash took place at around 2:30 a.m. along Frazier Street at Drennan Road. Officials say that 37-year-old Bezael Guazazon Gomez was in a Chevy Silverado traveling eastbound on Drennan. At Frazier, the Silverado somehow collided with a Chevy Equinox headed northbound.

To be clear up front, if further investigations showed that alcohol wasn't a factor here, it wouldn't be the first time. But it's a serious concern worth considering. That's especially true considering there could be a local business out there responsible for contributing to these injuries.

Put simply, dram shop law says that an alcohol provider who over-serves an obviously intoxicated person can be liable for damages resulting from that intoxication. Bars, liquor stores, restaurants, and even gas stations must face consequences when their actions cause harm. Those consequences being a potential source of help for victims and families only makes dram shop that much more of an important tool available to victims and families.

Like I said, that may not be what happened here. But with two people said to be seriously injured, it would be irresponsible not to consider how to best get them the help they deserve.
