Commentary on Gainesville Car Accident on US-82

Right now police can't really say what happened in Gainesville, and until they can uncover some more facts to help tell the story I must discourage jumping to any conclusions. It may be tempting to point fingers at common factors like speeding, texting, or intoxication, but that's not fair to the people involved. For all anyone knows right now something else entirely was behind the crash; vehicle malfunctions, poor visibility, bad roads or intersection design, and many other issues cause wrecks every day but go unnoticed as people focus too much on the most common explanations.

For everyone's sake, the best thing to do is investigate carefully and account for all the variables. Finding the facts and letting them tell the story means everyone will be on the same page, while also ensuring that the people affected have what they need to seek help getting their lives back on track.

Unfortunately, I've learned over the years that police don't always dig too deeply before writing their "best guess" on reports and moving on. Will appropriate time and care be invested in Gainesville to make sure the whole story is learned, or is this another instance where independent investigators stand more chance of learning the truth?
