Commentary on Michael Williams Tanker Accident in Chesterfield

There are a lot of unclear details surrounding this tragic event. It's not even entirely clear if the crash is what killed the victim. For all we know, this all was the result of a serious medical emergency. But if the crash is what caused this man's death, was the crash really severe enough to be fatal? Or, were there extenuating circumstances that led to the man's death?

Here's why I say that. The reports confirm that the victim was wearing his seatbelt, yet he suffered fatal injuries anyway. When I see that after a commercial truck wreck, my concern is the injuries were the result of the cab being crushed. I can't tell if that happened here, but it's possible that this crash should have been survivable. The problem is that a lot of commercial trucks simply aren't built to withstand relatively minor rollovers because many manufacturers simply don't give a damn about truck drivers. Could it be that something like that happened here? It's at least worth further investigations if it means ensuring a grieving family gets the answers they deserve.
