Commentary on Semi-Truck Accident on Fruitville Road in Sarasota

Looking at the area of the crash, it would appear the road the victim was on would have had a stop sign. That may lead some folks to assume the victim screwed up here. That could be what happened here. I certainly can't say otherwise. But these details don't always tell the whole story, so it's important there are thorough investigations.

For example, I was looking into a crash not long ago involving a woman that ran a red light. An 18-wheeler then hit her, killing her. As open-and-shut as that seemed, weeks of more thorough investigations revealed something crucial. It turned out the 18-wheeler was going about 20 MPH over the speed limit.

Now, would that excuse someone for running a red light? Of course not. But 20 MPH in a fully loaded 18-wheeler can be the difference between life and death. It at least makes a serious situation a lot more complex and worth further investigations. Maybe nothing so challenging happened here, but the injuries listed in reports at least makes it worth some consideration.
