Man Killed in Skydiving Accident near Whitewright, TX

Whitewright, TX -- July 31, 2022, a man sustained fatal injuries after an accident which occurred while skydiving.

In reports, officials said that the incident happened outside of Whitewright and Bonham at around 1:00 p.m. It appears the victim was a man skydiving with Skydive Spaceland Dallas.

The man, identified only as someone in his 30s, was skydiving when something happened, tangling the man in his parachute. As a result, he crash landed, suffering serious injuries. EMS transported him to a hospital where he later died.

It's not clear exactly what went wrong here, and there are all kinds of reasons an incident can occur doing something extreme like skydiving. I certainly can't speculate about what may or may not have happened. That said, news reports mentioned that the company involved had at least one other incident in the last year or two. Maybe that's just a coincidence, but it can also be a sign that a company has issues they need to address. Are those possibilities being looked into here? There's no doubt a family out there that deserves some answers.
