Sutton County, TX -- July 8, 2022, a California man was injured following an accident where two semi-trucks crashed on I-10.

Investigators said that a 61-year-old Lakeview, California man was in a semi truck traveling westbound along I-10. While rounding a curve, reports say that the truck somehow crashed into a slower semi ahead. Reports say that semi was moving slowly with hazards on and moving into the right lane to avoid a disabled truck ahead.

Commentary on California Man Truck Accident on I-10 in Sutton County

These reports don't shed much light on the exact timing of all this, and that's likely going to be important. If investigations can show that a reasonably prudent truck driver would have seen the slower truck and slowed down as well, then maybe the victim here failed to avoid something he should have.

However, evidence could show that the truck ahead wasn't visible enough, had no good reason to go as slow as it was going, or perhaps cut off the victim while merging to the right. It's not for me to say one way or the other what happened here, since there's no way for me to know without more thorough investigations. But if folks are quick to jump to conclusions here just because it's a rear-end collision, they should consider that there could be other factors involved here authorities failed to address properly.
