Commentary on Ragan Richardson Car Accident in Odessa

Something that always bothers me about crashes like this is folks will just immediately assume the driver was doing something wrong. Is that possible? Sure--in fact, it's pretty common. Maybe the driver was on their phone, or maybe they were fatigued. Maybe a bar illegally and dangerously over-served them the night prior, and that bar is liable for their role in the crash under dram shop law. But what if there were other factors involved?

Did the crash involve mechanical issues or tire defects or road hazards? What if some other reckless driver caused the wreck and left the scene? If authorities aren't being thorough, they may miss something important the victim's loved ones need to hear. That's one of the reasons I always advocate for thorough independent investigations from professionals who will help ensure nothing important slips through the cracks. Are those steps being taken here?
