Commentary on Auto Accident on I-10E in El Paso
It's not clear yet how this crash happened or what started it. Until those and other questions are answered it's best not to jump to any conclusions. Police still have to look into many potential contributing factors: Driver mistakes like distraction, speeding, or intoxication, problems or defects in the vehicles, road conditions and design, visibility and sightlines, missing or unclear signage, bad weather, other traffic in the area, and many other things that could have influenced or even caused the crash.

It's always important to consider all the variables before drawing any conclusions. I've seen too many folks read a few vague sentences in the news and make up their minds right away, only for more information to come out and totally change things. The same could happen here, though a "by the book" police investigation might not really connect all the dots before it's over.
After a major accident, an independent investigation usually stands a better chance of learning the real story--including the smaller details that police sometimes overlook. Whatever the truth turns out to be, everyone involved and affected deserves all the answers they can get. Those answers would also help determine what other steps, if any, should be taken.
