Commentary on Roberto Dueñas Car Accident in Laredo
These are obviously serious details, though there is a lot about the crash reports have yet to clarify. I wouldn't encourage anyone to start jumping to conclusions. But if it's true there was an intoxicated driver involved here, it's important to understand what that could mean. It's not always as simple as some reckless driver being responsible. There could also be a local alcohol provider that needs to be held responsible for this tragic event.

To put it simply, Texas has dram shop law which says that an alcohol provider who over-serves an obviously intoxicated person can be liable for damages resulting from that intoxication. Bars, liquor stores, restaurants, and even gas stations have rules to follow. When they break those rules for their own benefit, shouldn't they be held responsible? The fact dram shop can do this while also getting people the help they need makes it a vital tool for all Texans affected by such awful accidents.
Again, I can't say what did or didn't happen here. But in my experience, getting the full story after a serious crash like this requires more than simple police reports. The sooner more experienced professionals look into things, the sooner the facts come to light.
