Commentary on Jonathan Gibbons, Kelly Gibbons Truck Accident in Carrollton

This is generally a pretty simple thing for truck drivers to avoid, so long as they are well aware of their surroundings. Maybe there were extenuating circumstances here, but this is usually just the result of inattentiveness or outright distraction. Even in those situations, though, the full story may require a more experienced eye.

In a situation I handled a while back, for example, we found that a driver that caused a wreck did so while texting his supervisor. That was because the supervisor would constantly call and text drivers, and if they didn't respond right away, they'd get in trouble. Essentially, this idiot made drivers choose between being responsible drivers or putting food on their family's table. It was inevitably someone would get hurt.

Maybe nothing like that happened here, but it's one of the reasons thorough independent investigations are so important.
