Davin Blu Beers Injured in Rollover Accident in Newton County, TX

Newton County, TX -- July 10, 2022, Davin Blu Beers was injured due to an accident where Beers's vehicle crashed and overturned.

Investigators reported that the crash took place at around 2:20 a.m. along FM 363 near the intersection of County Road 4046.

According to officials, 27-year-old Davin Blu Beers was in a Ford F-150 traveling westbound along FM 363. The vehicle lost control on a curve, causing the vehicle to flip over and roll multiple times.

Beers was reportedly partially ejected from the vehicle and sustained incapacitating injuries. Police said alcohol could be a factor, but they were not able to confirm this.

Seeing alcohol brought up in these reports concerns me for reasons folks might not consider. One concern is that if it was a factor, authorities may not realize that there could be a local business liable for contributing to the victim's injuries by illegally over-serving them. This is called dram shop law, and it usually requires independent investigations.

The other concern is that if alcohol was not a factor, its seriousness may distract authorities from looking into other, less common possible factors. Something like mechanical defects, for example, is incredibly complex. But if authorities just put all of their focus on a more common explanation only to find it wasn't a factor at all, they may let something important slip through the cracks. Getting folks the help they need means knowing the whole story. In my experience, it takes more than a simple crash report from authorities to get that story.
