According to reports the incident happened around 2:30 p.m. on Old Dallas Road near Bode Road. Preliminary investigation suggests Martinez was driving a Chevrolet Cruze northeast on the roadway when he approached non-contact vehicle headed the opposite direction. Commentary on Juan Martinez Accident in McLennan County

It's troubling to see that someone apparently failed to share the road properly and then just left the scene after running the victim off it. A hit-and-run may require a "hit" to technically qualify, but it's still quite disturbing that a "run" happened after someone was hurt. I don't know if authorities will make an effort to find the other vehicle, but if their reports are right and that driver was responsible for the crash then it seems important to hold them accountable--and to find out why they showed such poor driving behavior to start with.

Unfortunately police may not put in the time or effort to get to the bottom of the wreck. Unless the victim can provide them with some details about the vehicle that forced him off-course there may be few ways to track it down. Nevertheless, every effort should be made to find the whole truth and see justice done. Whether there are other steps to take beyond that may depend on what is learned.
