Amardeep Singh, Dalwinder Singh, Casey Jones, 2 Injured in Car Accident in Howe, TX

Howe, TX -- July 4, 2022, Amardeep Singh, Dalwinder Singh, Casey Jones, and two others were injured due to a car accident.

Investigators reported that the crash took place at around 12:00 a.m. along US 75 near Hall Cemetery Street.

According to officials, 32-year-old Amardeep Singh was in an Audi traveling southbound on US 75. At Hall Cemetery Road, it appears an eastbound pickup somehow went through the stop sign, off-road, and onto main lanes. Singh's vehicle hit the side of the pickup.

Due to the crash, Singh had reportedly non-incapacitating injuries. His passengers, 62-year-old Dalwinder Singh and two unidentified women, were said to have incapacitating injuries.

Reports said that 31-year-old Casey Jones was in the bed of the pickup and suffered incapacitating injuries after being thrown from the vehicle. Police also say the suspected driver of that vehicle denied driving but admitted to drinking. This and other factors remain under investigation.

While it's unclear exactly what happened here, the possibility of alcohol is one that can't be taken lightly. Obviously, there could be serious consequences for an intoxicated driver, but there can also be someone responsible for the serious injuries the victims sustained: a bar.

Early in the morning, investigators need to find out if a crash like this involved a negligent alcohol provider. Dram shop law says that an alcohol provider who over-serves an obviously intoxicated person can be liable for damages resulting from that intoxication. Not only does this ensure they're held accountable for their actions, it gives folks much needed tools to get help that may not otherwise be available to them.

Whether or not any of that applies here would require more thorough investigations into what all happened here. I find too often that authorities completely overlook these possibilities, so independent investigations from professionals experienced with dram shop law may be necessary.
