Carlton Williams Killed in Pedestrian Accident on Belknap St in Haltom City, TX
Haltom City, TX — June 18, 2022, 62-year-old pedestrian Carlton Williams was killed in a traffic accident on Belknap Street in Haltom City.
According to reports the incident happened around 1:50 a.m. on Belknap near Layton Avenue. Preliminary investigation suggests a Ford Escape was headed west on the roadway in the right lane as a Mitsubishi Outlander was westbound in the left lane.
Williams, reportedly laying down in the right lane for unknown reasons, was hit by the Escape. After the impact the Ford driver lost control and swerved into the side of the Mitsubishi, causing the Outlander to side-skid and overturn.
Williams was pronounced dead at the scene. It's unknown if he was previously struck before the Ford hit him.

Investigators know a vehicle hit the victim, but as of publishing their report they still didn't know whether anyone else hit him before that, what he was doing on foot in the area, where he came from, and many other crucial details.
I know that some of the remaining questions likely aren't simple to resolve with whatever police could find at the scene, but at the same time that doesn't excuse them from trying their hardest to find answers. At the very least the victim's loved ones deserve whatever information they can get about their loss, so if law enforcement plans to wash their hands of the matter and move on then maybe an independent investigation could fill in the blanks.
