According to reports, 39-year-old Jared Bush was in a Chevy Corvette traveling southbound on Gaylord. At Warren, Bush reportedly attempted to make a left turn through a yellow arrow, crashing with a northbound Toyota Camry driven by Jose Gallegos Jr.

Police said alcohol may have been a factor, but they could not confirm this.

Commentary on Jose Gallegos Jr., Chanel Paba, Jared Bush Car Accident in Frisco

It's obviously concerning anytime authorities mention alcohol, though it's important to keep in mind that's just an unconfirmed possibility at this stage. But it's worth understanding what that seemingly straight-forward detail can mean for victims and families. It's not just about drivers--it's also important to know where the alcohol came from.

In Texas, dram shop law says that an alcohol provider who over-serves an obviously intoxicated person can be liable for damages resulting from that intoxication. Bars, restaurants, and other venues harming their communities need to be held accountable. It so happens dram shop can do this while also getting folks some much needed help.

So while I certainly can't say right now that's a factor here, there is more than enough reason to ensure investigators handling things know what they're looking for. There could be a lot more to this than what police are letting on in their preliminary reports.
