Commentary on Truck Accident on I-15 in St. George
There's no telling what happened here yet. Reports mention the truck rear-ended the passenger vehicles, but can't really say how or why that happened yet. Were the cars stopped for some reason? Moving slowly? Just travelling normally? How fast was the truck going? What did (or didn't) the trucker do the meant the truck couldn't stop or avoid the cars? Is there anything wrong with the road in the area? Was the truck in good repair? Was the driver awake, alert, and paying attention?
That's only a few of the many questions that a comprehensive investigation will answer. Unfortunately, I've learned over the years that law enforcement isn't always keen on finding all the details--just enough of them to fill out a basic report. If the victims don't agree with the report or feel there are too many questions left unanswered (happens all the time), they may want to enlist the help of independent investigators to fill in more blanks. Anything more than simply getting them the truth would probably depend on what that truth turns out to be.
