Commentary on Philip Anthony 18-wheeler Accident in Irving

This seems like such an incredibly avoidable accident, so one can't help but wonder what this truck driver was doing. It may seem simple enough to just hold them accountable and move on, but knowing the full story can be important both for getting folks the help they need and for potentially preventing future accidents.

Philip Anthony Injured in Truck Accident in Irving, TX

I had this one case a while back, for example, in which a truck driver recklessly caused an accident. The crash was so avoidable that it almost seemed like the driver had no experience behind the wheel of a semi. Well, we dug into his records, and it turned out that was essentially true.

The company hired him with almost no experience, and they were so desperate to get product moving they rushed through all of the training and put him on the road immediately. Any respectable trucker can attest to just how insanely reckless that is. It was just a matter of time before someone got hurt. Without stiff and thorough consequences, it would be a matter of time before that company's negligence got others hurt.

I'm not trying to say that's what happened here. This could be as simple as texting and driving or as complex as unforeseeable brake failure. The key is having clear evidence one way or the other so victims and families have all the tools they need to get the help they deserve. I see no reason why this crash would be an exception to that.
