Kentucky Trucker, Tennessee Trucker Injured in Truck Accident on I-30 in Mount Pleasant, TX
Mount Pleasant, TX -- June 28, 2022, two people were injured in an accident where two commercial trucks crashed on I-30.
Officials said that the crash took place at around 7:49 p.m. along I-30 near Lakewood Drive.
Investigations said that a 34-year-old Hopkinsville, Kentucky was in a Volvo truck traveling westbound on I-30. Ahead, a 61-year-old Antioch, Tennessee man was in a stationary truck that was disabled, reportedly without emergency lights or visibility markers.
There were conflicting details that the Tennessee trucker had slammed on his brakes due to a vehicle ahead stopping short. One way or the other, the Kentucky trucker's vehicle crashed into the truck ahead.
As a result of the collision, both drivers reportedly had incapacitating injuries. No further information about the crash is available at this time.
Commentary on Dual Truck Accident on I-30 at Lakewood in Mount Pleasant
These conflicting details paint significantly different pictures. A truck being disabled on the highway without any visibility markers is quite dangerous. But a truck driver failing to slow down for another truck hitting its brakes ahead is also concerning. So what happened here? Are authorities working to clear up the details? Sometimes, they don't have the time or experience to really dig into the details, and this can leave victims and families in serious need of answers.

Taking steps to have independent investigators handle things can prove prudent, then. In a recent case, for example, we had investigations done into a case where both drivers blamed the other for running a red light. While authorities apparently couldn't make heads or tails of it, our efforts uncovered security footage from a nearby business which clearly showed the events on video. That was a significant step toward getting folks the help they needed. I'm confident that similar efforts could prove helpful here, as well.
