Commentary on 18-wheeler Accident on Telephone Road in Houston

While some may see these reports as pretty straight-forward, I learned a long time ago that 18-wheeler wrecks are almost always challenging. That's why it's important to ensure independent accident reconstructionists look into things. After all, there could be unusual circumstances authorities haven't considered.

For example, the reports seem to show that the vehicles crashed at a bit of an angle. Why does this matter? Well, some manufacturers found a relatively simple and affordable way to build cars so they deflect more easily in an off-set collision. This helps prevent serious or fatal injuries. Despite this technology existing, some manufacturers still refuse to make changes because they aren't required to, and they aren't willing to put in the time and money--at the expense of their own customers, of course.

I'm not saying that happened here, but so rarely do police look into things beyond the obvious facts of the crash itself. A proper investigation will also consider why someone was hurt the way they were. That way, problems can be fixed, and victims and families can get some much needed help they may not otherwise have available to them. It remains to be seen if any such steps were taken to get answers here.
