Commentary on Dual Truck Accident on FM 3129 in Cass County
If these reports are accurate, how exactly does someone fail to see a big commercial truck coming at them on a straight road during daylight hours? Generally speaking, a reasonably prudent trucker isn't going to make that mistake. That's why those reasonably prudent truckers tend to fall victim to those out there that can't do the job properly. Those drivers likely also understand the importance of ensuring more than just a simple police report digs into what went wrong.

A recent case I had shows why that's so important. A reckless trucker caused a serious wreck, but the mistake was so ridiculous we wondered how someone with any basic training could have made the mistake. Well, it turned out the driver didn't have basic training. That company essentially tossed the keys to someone with know commercial driving experience, showed him where the buttons and levers were, and said, "Good luck." It was just a matter of time before someone got hurt, and it would be a matter of time before a company like that would hurt others.
I'm not saying that happened here, but it's important folks understand why a crash like this can be so complex. It's not just about what happened. It's about why it happened. Answering that can make a significant difference in getting folks the help they deserve. I don't see why this crash would be an exception to that.
