Commentary on Bicycle, Truck Accident on US 77 in Refugio County

With an accident like this, folks may see things as relatively open-and-shut. Authorities said the victim had their lights on, so clearly this truck driver wasn't paying attention, right? Even if that is what happened here, which I can't say without clear evidence, even a mistake can be just the tip of the iceberg.

A crash that came to me a while back, for example, involved a driver texting and driving. Through our investigations, however, we found out it was because he was responding to his supervisor who would get angry with drivers and threaten to fire them when they didn't respond to his messages immediately. It was just a matter of time before such reckless business practices got people hurt or killed. Could it be authorities are overlooking something serious like that here? If nothing else, continuing efforts could help to ensure those involved here get the answers and the help they deserve.
