Commentary on Randy Drouin Truck Accident in Rumford
There isn't much information here, and I'm certainly not here to speculate without any evidence. However, I do what I can to bring to light potential challenges folks may not consider which 30 years of experience gives me some insight on. Looking at an image from the crash scene, frankly, I can't help wondering why this crash was fatal.
Perhaps there were significant speeds involved or other factors which made it all but impossible to walk away from. However, there are also a lot of times authorities overlook what should have been relatively minor truck wrecks which turned fatal because the truck's safety features either failed to work or simply weren't there.
The general public may not know this, but those in and around the trucking industry know that many companies out there skate by on doing the bare minimum to protect drivers when there is technology readily available and afford that could save drivers' lives. Instead, they ignore these steps and hope no one calls them out on it.
Could this be one of those situations? Whatever caused this wreck, could this man have made it home to his family had the truck been made or owned by a more responsible company? It may be worth more thorough investigations to say for sure.
