Anytime alcohol comes up in reports, it's important to consider things like dram shop law, which basically says the alcohol providers involved can be liable if it turns out they illegally over-served whoever caused the crash. That could be anywhere from a bar to a liquor store to a restaurant, and it can be a significant source of assistance for the victims. With that said, there could still be other important details to look into here, such as distracted driving, mechanical issues, defective signals, visibility obstructions, etc. The goal here should be to get clear answers, and that may require more than just police reports that barely scratch the surface.
