Monahans Man Injured in Truck Accident on Highway 302 in Reeves County, TX

Reeves County, TX -- May 6, 2022, a Monahans man was injured due to an accident where a truck crashed off Highway 302.

Investigators reported that the crash took place at around 8:07 p.m. along Highway 302 at US Highway 285.

In their reports, authorities said that a 63-year-old Monahans man was in a semi-trailer traveling northbound along US 285. At Highway 302, the truck overturned making a right turn.

The truck driver had incapacitating injuries due to the crash. Police said speed is a suspected factor. Additional details are unavailable at this time.

It wouldn't at all be surprising to see that speed was indeed a factor here, but it's important to understand that authorities are not generally experienced with commercial vehicle wrecks. Something like a cargo shift or a mechanical issue can easily slip through the cracks when authorities aren't sure what they're looking at. That's why it's best to avoid jumping to conclusions about crashes like this until there's been proper independent investigations.
