As straight forward as this all seems, it's important there are always thorough independent investigations to make sure the full story comes to light.

I'll give an example of why that's so important. A while back, I was looking into a crash in which a woman reportedly ran a red light, and an 18-wheeler t-boned her vehicle. Folks were all too pleased to dogpile on the woman for her obvious mistake. Weeks later, however, new information came to light showing the 18-wheeler had been going about 20 MPH over the speed limit.

Did that excuse the woman for running the light? Of course not, but 20 MPH in a fully loaded 18-wheeler cane mean the difference between life and death. I'm not saying anything like that happened here, of course. I just want folks to understand that early reports like this rarely tell the full story. There could be a lot more to all of this than meets the eye.
