Commentary on Truck Accident on I-25 in Colorado Springs

There are a few things to consider with reports like this. For one, a truck somehow hitting a stationary vehicle during daylight hours gives some cause for concern. Why that driver wasn't able to see and avoid the truck will no doubt be an important set of events to clear up.

With that said, investigations should also consider why the other truck was there to begin with. Why was it abandoned? Where was the owner? Did it have mechanical issues due to poor maintenance? Was there some unavoidable breakdown or tire blowout? Was the truck properly marked with visibility cones? A deadly obstruction left on an interstate for no good reason is something that warrants consequences. If that happened here, it could show there are folks out there who have some explaining to do to those harmed in the crash.
