Harbhajan Sidhu Injured in Truck Accident on Blanco Rd in Comal County, TX
Comal County, TX — June 23, 2022, 53-year-old Harbhajan Sidhu was seriously injured in a truck accident on Blanco Road in Comal County.
According to reports the incident happened around 11:10 a.m. on Blanco Road near West Ammann Road. Preliminary investigation suggests Sidhu was driving an International semi-truck with a trailer west on the roadway when it approached a sharp right turn at too high a speed.
The truck passed into the oncoming lane while taking the curve and Sidhu corrected course, causing the trailer to fishtail off the road and crash into a nearby ranch fence. The truck and trailer both overturned on their left sides, partially blocking the road and spilling the trailer's contents into a nearby field.
Sidhu suffered serious injuries in the crash.

Commentary on Harbhajan Sidhu Accident in Comal County
Reports suggest this accident and the driver's injuries were due mostly to speeding through a tight corner--something 18-wheelers aren't exactly famous for doing well. Maybe that's the whole story, but in my experience accidents often happen due to combinations of factors rather than just one all-consuming reason.
For instance, many things can go wrong in a commercial truck that would easily rob a driver of his control over the rig. If the cargo got loose and shifted hard in the turn, that could have destabilized the trailer and made it fishtail. The truck's brakes could have locked or failed, keeping the victim from slowing for the turn. Maybe something in the truck gave way due to lack of maintenance from its owners; heck, maybe the turn is much too sharp for big bulky vehicles and signage in the area doesn't explain that adequately. There's a lot of potential variables to cover, and yet it's not unusual to see many reports where police say little more than "The truck sped and crashed."

Maybe authorities were actually thorough here and the story they reported is really all there is to know. However, if there's any chance they are mistaken about what happened or the facts aren't complete (it happens much too often), then maybe someone else should take a closer look.
