Commentary on Ryan Osteen Car Accident in Rowlett

I certainly don't have evidence one way or another about what did or didn't cause this crash. Authorities bringing up alcohol is always concerning, of course. That's both for obvious reasons and for the possibility some local alcohol provider is responsible under dram shop law for illegally over-serving the driver and contributing to the victim's injuries. With that said, if further investigations showed police were mistaken and alcohol had nothing to do with this crash, it wouldn't be the first time. Did they also look into mechanical issues? Tire blowouts? Fatigue? Missing signage or lighting? Other driver that may have left the scene? Likely or not, it's important to be sure all the facts are clear so folks have every possible opportunity to get the help they need. It remains to be seen if those steps were taken here.
