Commentary on Georgia Man Truck Accident on I-10 in Socorro

These reports stand out in that a tire blowout is explained as the result of a "malfunction." It's not really clear if this is just vague language from police or the truck driver or if investigations truly believe something exceptional led to the tire blowout. Folks tend to assume this sort of thing is just the result of something in the road puncturing the tire or the owners not replacing a worn tire. Frankly, that's the most likely explanation. But if it turned out some kind of defect led to the blowout, it wouldn't be the first time. To get folks the help they need and to potentially get a dangerous product off the roads, though, it may be best that there are independent investigations into what happened here.
