Commentary on Efrain Rodriguez Ruiz, Christopher Rodriguez Car Accident in San Antonio
It's not my place to say if the allegations here are true or not. My goal is simply for people to understand the potential challenges victims and families can face in crashes like this. While it may not seem like anything particularly out of the ordinary occurred here, keep in mind these reports may only be telling part of the larger story.

This early in the morning, for example, investigations often reveal alcohol was a factor. That can lead to the revelation that a local alcohol provider illegally over-served the driver, which could make them liable under dram shop law for contributing to the deadly wreck. Is that something authorities have looked into here?
Quite frankly, I've seen too often how police focus solely on charging a driver without actually getting answers for those in need of help after the crash. As important as it is for people to take accountability for their actions, steps must also be taken to ensure a grieving family gets whatever help Texas law gives them the right to pursue. Whether or not those steps are being taken here remains to be seen.
