Commentary on Truck Accident on Highway 34 in Detroit Lakes

A truck crashing into the back of someone just waiting for oncoming traffic may seem pretty open-and-shut, but there are usually inherent challenges that require thorough investigations. I had a crash with details similar to this one where the trucking company claimed the other driver slammed on their bakes without using a signal. It took us tracking down nearby security footage to actually show that the victim slowed to a controlled stop for nearly six seconds--with their blinker on--before the truck plowed into them.

Whatever led to this crash, the witnesses mentioned in reports will no doubt be a vital source of information. Did police keep up with those witnesses and take down their contact info? It wouldn't be the first time victims or families went looking for that information only for police to not at all have the information anymore, allowing those vital witnesses to scatter to the four winds. Are steps being taken here to ensure the victim can tell their side of the story thoroughly?
