Bladinich Rodriguez Injured in Truck Accident off I-2 in San Juan, TX

San Juan, TX — June 3, 2022, 34-year-old Bladinich Rodriguez was injured in a crash with a tractor-trailer off Interstate 2 in Hidalgo County.

According to reports the incident happened around 2:15 p.m. on the I-2 frontage road at Stewart Road. Preliminary investigation suggests a Freightliner semi-truck with an attached trailer was stopped on northbound Stewart, preparing to turn eastward on the frontage road. Nearby, Rodriguez was headed east on the frontage road in a Chevrolet C1500 pickup.

Reports say the truck driver failed to yield the right-of-way to the Chevy and the two trucks collided on the frontage road.

Rodriguez reportedly received minor injuries in the crash. The truck driver was unhurt.

It's something of a relief to read that the injuries here were minor, though that's no still reason to take the collision lightly. I've seen cases where "minor" injuries turned out to be anything but, and it's important folks are prepared just in case things are worse than they seem.

For example, a while back a client was involved in a crash with a commercial truck. Doctors first told him he was lucky to have just a sore back and sent him home with instructions to use a heating pad and stay off his feet. Not long after, though, that soreness became paralyzing pain.

Further tests and scans showed the crash actually ruptured a disk in the victim's spine. That "minor" injury ultimately needed surgery and months of recovery, not to mention a drawn-out battle with the insurance company before they agreed to help him.

I certainly hope nothing like that happens after the San Juan wreck, but in the other situation our client was able to get help because he reached out to us soon after his crash. Folks that wait too long may find they no longer have access to the tools and evidence they need. Taking swift action means at worst they'll be overprepared for nothing, which is always better than the opposite.
