Commentary on Brandon Arnold Car Accident in Harris County

The most likely explanations with tire blowouts are that something unexpectedly punctured the tire and that the tire needed to be replaced. With that said, I always talk about the importance of taking crashes like this seriously. Unlikely or not, this sort of thing can involve complex factors police alone aren't likely to be able to address properly.

For example, manufacturing defects have led to tire blowouts in the past--multiple times, in fact. But without proper accident reconstructions with the right tools and training, that kind of thing can easily slip through the cracks. Maybe those investigations would simply rule out that possibility here, but any opportunity to get people the help they deserve should be explored.
