Commentary on Car Accident on I-35 in Gainesville
Obviously, a crash hurting children and allegedly involving alcohol is incredibly concerning. It's important to take those claims seriously, which includes finding out if a local business illegally over-served someone and contributed to the crash, as that establishment could be liable under dram shop law. But just because authorities say alcohol was a factor doesn't mean other possibilities should go overlooked.

I've had plenty of situations where folks came to me with reports blaming the victim only more thorough investigations to show there were other factors involved. Mechanical issues, tire blowouts, road hazards, other drivers that left the scene--even unlikely possibilities need attention. Otherwise, important details can slip through the cracks. The question right now is if investigators were prudent enough to consider these possibilities so these kids can get the help they deserve.
